Monster Dance Designs
It’s my philosophy that art should be functional, fun, and a part of everyday life. It should be something you hold in your hands, put out on the table, share with your friends. Art isn’t just for the wall–it should come out and join the party!
My original designs are individually sandblasted onto each glass in my home studio in Austin, Texas. Immediately after getting my degree in ceramics and history ( I was supposed have been an archivist), I stumbled into the world of glass art and dove right in. I started by designing patterns for architectural sandblasted art, then spent many years creating and teaching stained glass, and learning other techniques along the way. Now I’ve come full circle and returned to where I first learned to love this challenging material.
Designs are sandblasted onto the glass using a stream of pressurized air and recycled abrasive grit to carve right into the surface of the glass for a design that won’t fade or wear off like a decal.
The Monster Dance name and many of my designs are are inspired by my young daughter, who happens to speak fluent Monster and has the moves to back it up.
